Xander
Creative, funny, unique – words that describes Xander. Born under special circumstances with a myriad of special needs, Xander continues to redefine the word special on his own terms and in his own way. Adopted at birth, he has dealt with mitochondrial disorders since he was four months old. He couldn't keep formula down, gain weight or meet basic milestones. During the first of many hospitalizations, he met a leading mitochondrial specialist from Seattle Children's Hospital and his Mito journey began. Physical challenges don’t prevent this adventurous young man from trying things like adaptive horseback riding, downhill skiing and surfing. Now at nearly 17, Xander shares a typical love of virtual reality video games and YouTube videos.
