Zack has learned how to cope with his health concerns but knows he may have to find alternate ways to accomplish his goals. His perseverance has earned him a green belt in karate and some mean skateboarding skills. He loves to go flying with his pilot dad and aspires to also be a pilot. Zack spent the first two weeks of his life in intensive care. His parents were told that his issues were caused by premature birth, but the next few years convinced them otherwise. Later in childhood, he was clinically diagnosed with mitochondrial disease.
