Logan
During his recent intensive care stay at Seattle Children's Hospital, Logan wrote a poem that was illustrated by two artists. What a wonderful thing for those artists to do — they partnered with patients in distress to help them express their identity in a hopeful and creative way.
I love how Logan described himself as his favorite place — home. But, most of all I love it when he hays he is happy. There is no doubt about his approach to life. He just doesn’t let mito bother him. And, there is no way one can get him to NOT smile. I tried to coach him to give me a variety of emotions in the portraits I shot, but there was no way the expressions that countered his natural smile would last longer than a second or two.
This video was produced for the online 2021 Seattle Children's Hospital Mitochondrial Research Guild fundraising event to celebrate Logan's creativity. It was also to catch the audience up with one of the Mito families who have faced unexpected health concerns and encourage donors to fund research and family grants.
