Hazel
Hazel is a happy, non-verbal, energetic 5-year-old who brings so much joy to her family. She was diagnosed three years ago with an incredibly rare and devastating mitochondrial condition called non-ketotic hyperglycinemia (LIAS variation), a condition also shared by her brother. In spite of her condition, she is a whirlwind of energy and determination.
Hazel’s parents remain steadfast and profoundly grateful for the support of a small group of friends and the ‘Mito’ team at Seattle Children’s Hospital. I will forever remember her smile and acceptance, as she engages everyone she meets with a brightness that warms every heart.
